Thanksgiving – What are you Thankful for?

What are You Thankful For?

It’s the question asked every Thanksgiving.

When you’re put on the spot at the dinner table it can be hard to think of anything that wasn’t already said.

You know you have so much to be grateful for – BUT the PRESSURE!

It’s ok, at some time today though stop and reflect at all you have in your life to be Thankful for.

Better yet write them down.  (You can toss them when you’re done if you want.)

Why Gratitude? 

Living with gratitude you teach yourself to appreciate everything in life.  Not just the once in a life time events but the little things.  Not once in awhile but all the time.  The more you are thankful for, the more you will find you have to be thankful for.

Everyone has something to be grateful for-

  • Waking up to have to go to work, instead of having no job to go to.
  • Being able to get in your car to go somewhere (like work), instead of having to take the bus.
  • Being able to take the bus; instead of having to walk.
  • Being able to walk, instead of using a wheelchair.
  • Having a wheelchair to use, instead of being bed ridden and someone taking care of you.
  • Having someone to take care of you when you’re bed ridden, instead of being alone.
  • Being, instead of not.

There is Something to be Grateful for no matter where we are in life!

We just have to find a way.

How to Feel Happy No Matter where You are in Life

Do you feel “Less than Happy”?

Do you feel like life should be, “Happier”?

Have you ever tried to research, “How to Feel Happy”?  I have and you probably ran into the same problem I did.

Almost everything I found on feeling happy told me what to do to feel happy.  However, there was very little on how to feel happy.

Then I ran across Leo from Acutalized.org’s YouTube video:  How To Feel Happy – Scientifically Proven Ways of Creating Lasting Happiness.

What I liked was that he gave 10 ways to be happy and then broke them down into concrete steps you can take on each one to succeed at being happy.

Why is This The richest woman in the world?

What makes this the richest woman in the world? 

How did she become the richest woman in the world?

How can you gain riches like her?

Why would the Bank Think Alexis is the Richest Woman in the World?

I think even the bank would agree that Alexis is the richest woman in the world.  Not because she has more money in there than anyone else; but because when she comes in she greets them with a GREAT BIG WARM SMILE and a sincere “Hey, how you doin’?”.  She also makes a special effort to poke her head in some of the office doors, and greet them too.  Alexis at least gives everyone she can that great big warm smile and an amazingly friendly hand wave.

I think for some of them – that may be the best part of their day.

It’s not just the bank, it’s everywhere Alexis goes and everyone she meets – at church, the grocery store, the gym….

Is she rich with money?  No.  She is far richer than that.  She is rich with Love and caring and she gives it more unconditionally then anyone I know.

Do you know people you consider “friends” and others you consider “good friends”?  Maybe even a best friend or two?

Not Alexis.  I don’t think I have ever heard her mention of “A friend”, it’s always, “A good friend” or “My best friend”. 

We can’t go anywhere where someone doesn’t know her and stop to talk to her.  Even on a trip to the Bahamas she knew someone!

A man stands on his steps in a torrential rain. As the water continues to rise it force him off the steps and up onto the porch.  Just then a great big truck pulls up to his steps.  From inside they shout for him to get in – they’re heading for high ground.  He shouts back not to worry and head on, God will take care of him.  Off the truck goes.

Why Meditate – Are You Crazy?

Seriously, Why Would I Need to Meditate?!

Well let’s take a look at your day!  (Imagine it how yours really goes)

Your Morning Routine:

You wake up too early, to the worst sound in the world – the sound of an alarm clock.  Ugh!  You rush through your morning routine.  Have coffee or a soda maybe a donut or “Egg McNothin’” for breakfast; Counting on the sugar and caffeine to get you going.

Your Commute to work:

On the way to work there is all the traffic:  the guy going entirely too slow in front of you and the guy going entirely too fast behind you; riding your butt trying to get around you and somehow almost every light manages to be “red” or turn green just as your car comes to a complete and full stop.  There’s honks and whistles and people walking in the street, lights noises, and what is that smell?  Your Bluetooth is ringing….

All this and you’re not even at work yet!

Your Work Day:

You go through your work day praying it will end from the moment you clock in.  The phone’s ringing; emails are coming in (only 10 or 20 to start with).  The computer is sluggish.  Maybe one of the kids is calling on the cell phone to tell on the other one.  The doctor is calling to reschedule, you’re late for a meeting now and a disgruntled client is on the phone while you’re glancing at an email of a client that wants a price reduction.  Oh yeah, that meeting you’re late for is about how the “Team” needs to be charging the clients more.

The End of the Day:

The last 15 minutes of the work day seem to last about 10 hours.  When you can finally punch out and go you’re fighting the traffic which seems to have waited for you suspended in time.  But when you get home – aaaah you can finally sit back and JUST RELAX.

Well, as soon as you’ve calmed down your spouse from their work day, get the kids to stop fighting, help prepare dinner, eat dinner, clean up from dinner, realized you need laundry done because you’re out of underwear and socks, paid some bills and realized, “Holy time clocks Batman, it’s what time?”.  So I ask againWhy Meditate?
